Default VoIP Bandwidth Test

Have you ever wondered how many simultaneous voip calls your network can handle? Take this easy VoIP Bandwidth Test from Bandwidth.com :

http://www.bandwidth.com/tools/voipTest

Here's a typical scenario for a basic level cable modem:
Test Type: Results
  • Bidirectional Transfer Rate: 385.99 kbps
  • VoIP Phone Capacity: 4 Concurrent Calls** (G711 Compression)
  • Latency: 127.0 milliseconds ( Good )
As a general rule of thumb, a business should want to support between 25% - 50% as many simultaneous calls as they have extensions or employees (i.e. if you have 10 employees, you would generally want to be able to support between 3 (always round up) to 5 simultaneous calls.

Cheers,

John
