Default HandyTone 503

Has anyone have trouble or can comment on this phone adptor? I'm trying to stock up on the most reliable adptor for my customers (and easiest to configure). I'm also leaning toward the pricer PAP2T-NA. But the grandstream sound like a better deal. Can anyone help decide?

Default Grandstream Handytone 503

toname,

Honestly it is almost a personal preference at that point however based on my experience I really prefer the Linksys Analog Adapters. The GUI on the Linksys ATA is much cleaner and overall reliability of the Linksys adapters usually prove to make them worth while.

Take note though that the Handytone 503 does have the backup PSTN port, which you may or may not need, but the PAP2T has the extra FXS port as well.

The Grandstream ATA do prove to be hot items though so if price is a major factor I would just go for them.

Hope this helps!

Default PSTN-to-VoIP Call Feature

I like this feature on the grandstream 503. Which allows me to place calls from my cell phone to my PSTN phone at home then thru to my VoIP account. This would greatly reduce my long distance calls. I have yet to try if this works since I have not yet received mt device. I will keep you all posted. Thanks for the reply.

Default ATA's

Hi, The 503 and PAP2T have different ports. The 502 and PAP2T are similar but I like the Grandstreams because they have a pstn back up.

Good Luck

Received my devices two days ago. So far configurations for it to work on my network is very straight forward only need to change a few fields and your up and running. NOTE: need to update the firmware to 1.0.0.9 (it's on grandstreand's website. This fixed the problem of the device locking up when you try to make a PSTN call from the FXS port.

I'm still trying to configure for PSTN to VoIP calls for some reason I can't get the device to dial my numbers after I get the second dialtone. If anyone can figure this out and help me configure my devices this will really help alot of cellphone users.

I finally got the PSTN to VoIP pass thru to work. Make sure that there is no user ID infomation is present on the "UnConditional Call Forward VoIP" section of the Basic settings page. All calls will be passed thru to your VoIP account setup on the FXO settings.

I have two Linksys PAP2T-NA adapters, for about a year now, and they both work good for me.

Because it has two FXS lines, I am always subscribed to two separate VoIP services simultaneously using the one ATA.
I use the line-1 for my primary service that includes e911, and the line-2 for my most reliable, but lowest cost VoIP termination provider for outbound calling.
