Whelp, first let me explain the objective. I am looking to obtain a minimum of 10 local numbers that can be forwarded anywhere in the United States without any long distance fees.
Ok, I have several computers and have been reading about IP, PBX... and if neccessary am willing to get a T1 connection. I run a messaging website for inmates. What I would like to do is give each one a plan they can subscribe to where they pay us for a local number and we through our "PBX" can configure it to forward to a longdistance number of their choosing the goal is to avoid long distance fees. My question is? Is this doable? What would need to be done? Can I get unlimited long distance? What is the cheapest price I can get unlimited long distance for (monthly)? Basically, I can do the research if someone can point me in the right direction Tell me what would be required... the terminology used like "trunking"... again completely new to this world.Thank You |

Night Train,
Sure this is definitely do-able. I'm not really sure how other voip services do it but with our VoIP Service you get unlimited calling to both US and Cananda with no long distance charges at all. Checkout our Business VoIP Service page. Each account comes with 1 DID (telephone number) in any area code you like. Now since their are no long distance charges in US and Canada you really do not even need to worry about forwarding, etc. The cheapest plan is $34.95 a month for unlimited VoIP Service to both US & Canada. This includes 1 DID, Unlimited inbound minutes, unlimited outbound minutes and disaster recovery routing (in case of a WAN outage). Does this answer your question? If not let me know what else your curious about! Thanks! Last edited by mike; 07-12-2008 at 01:27 PM. |

Ok, before I write this off I want to ask an "idiot" question. I read the Business Plan and I saw something referring to pooling numbers...?
So, am I to understand each person that has their own number which can be forwarded to any longdistance number would need to pay 34.95 a month? Or (and this is my hope) the 34.95 is somekind of monthly account however each person can have their own number for far less (again I need to stress these numbers will be forwarded to individual numbers...) My goal is to be able to charge these guys 10.00 a month or something close... Thanks |

Night Train,
There are 2 plans. Business Voip Line Plan and the Business VoIP Pro Plan. The Business VoIP Line Plan has unlimited minutes inbound and outbound to the continental US and Canada. However you can only have 1 call on this line at a time, so it would most likely not work for you since you have multiple people using this. If you dial out of the continental US or Canada their is international long distance fees usually in the fractional cent per minute (0.03cent) for example. The Business VoIP Pro Plan has 2,000 outbound minutes per plan, unlimited inbound with the same international rate policy. However this plan can have as many calls as you like at 1 time. So 10 different inmates could be registered to this plan, all talking to different people at the same time... If you wanted a different phone number for each person it is an additional $5 per month. Each person on this line is going to "pull" from the 2,000 minutes when they are talking so if you needed more minutes you would just get additional plans ($39.95 a month). So basically you would need a Pro Plan, and you would need to estimate how many minutes/customers would be on this to determine how many plans you needed. If you could get away with charging $10 per month and each person would only be using around 100 or 200 minutes a month this could be a very profitable option for you... |

Thank You very much for following up. This appears to be the plan I was seeking. Now, I need to do a little research on PBX software, see if I can use my current computers... and find the best rate on T1
At any rate I am definately interested and will be contacting you soon. Thanks Again |
