Just purchased a Grandstream Budget Tone 101 phone. I configured the phone and it will make calls but I do not get a dial tone. Don't know if the problem is in the settings, my router or just where.
Anybody seen this before? and know a solution? |

Hi,
You can make calls but have no dial tone? This is strange, does it recieve calls? What type of calls are you making, local extension calls or across a WAN using a VoIP SIP Service Provider? Thank you. |

I am using a SIP service provider. It will make local and long distance calls over WAN. I cannot receive calls.
In further checking, the phone is not Registering with my provider. I can bi-pass my router and it does register and works normally. (get a dial tone, can send and receive calls) I can then reconnect to my router and it will continue to work, but if I reboot the phone it will not re-register while connected to my router. I have open the ports in the router according to the router manufacturer settings for a SIP phone but it has not helped. |

Wow thats strange, what Service Provider do you use?
Do they require you to have some sort of Static IP, is the routers DHCP screwing it up? |

I now believe that the whole problem was that the STUN server that was preconfigured in the phone settings when I got it was wrong. Can't explain why, but when changed it to a public STUN server, the phone now works great.
